Register of Licenced Sponsors - Information

The UK Register of Sponsors is maintained by the Home Office department of UK Visas and Immigration.

There are over 29,000 employers on the UK Sponsor Register. The companies on the register are licensed to sponsor migrant workers under Tiers 2 & 5 of a points-based system. The original listing is available from UK Visas and Immigration which can be accessed through this weblink.

What are tiers 2 and 5 of the points-based system?

They are the primary immigration routes for non-European Economic Area (EEA) migrants who wish to work in the UK. Migrants must be sponsored by a company that holds a tier 2 or tier 5 licence. A licence is a permission given to a company to sponsor workers in its business. These organisations are known as Sponsors. A migrant must have a Sponsor before they can apply to come to, or remain in the UK for work.

Tier 2: Is for skilled workers with a job offer from a UK based employer

There are several sub categories under tier 2:
o  General (for people with a job offer relating to the shortage of occupations list)
   o  Minister of Religion
   o  Sports and Creative
o  Intra Company Transfer (Established staff, Graduate trainee, Skills transfer)

Tier 5: Is for temporary workers & youth mobility

Points are awarded for the following:
   o   Qualifications
   o   Future Expected Salary
   o   The type of sponsorship
   o   English language skills
   o   Available self funding
